Forum Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw &
Bridge Preferences
|
|
The link in the yellow
box are my "Adobe Preferences Settings"
for Photoshop, Camera Raw and the Bridge. If you could compare
them with your current settings and make some notes, we can discuss
them in the Member's Request section of next Studio Forum.
It is my hope that ... at worst,
we can come up with a "Studio Forum Set of Adobe Preferences"...
at best, we may better understand
these settings effects when using these programs. |
If you haven't done
so yet, please download the Panorama Workflow PDF. If you're not into
panoramas you will be surprised how the steps in this workflow solidify
our understanding about our camera settings, scene subject failure and
its effect on exposure, white balance and Camera Raw settings.

With the power of
the new Adobe Bridge and the proliferation of Camera RAW
files, everybody has a Camera RAW workflow - well, click
here for mine. These are the note that we discussed with my reasoning
and my custom settings. Try them, think about them, and then share the
experience at the next Studio Forum. |

Converting Your Camera RAW to Adobe DNG
Files:
|
I have continued
converting my RAW files to DNG. I have documented and posted the procedure
I use and we discussed at the Forum. [Download
CS2 RAW to DNG Procedure]
Advantages:
· No Camera manufacture's planned obsolescence!
· More robust: PS Crop & straighten, keywords, etc. (less need
to create a XMP sidecar file)
· Lossless compression (more important the more MegaPixels)
Disadvantages:
· May lose some camera's RAW proprietary information (we'll
check this out next session)

Photoshop CS2 new file browser the "Bridge":
|
|
Much more powerful
than PS 7 & CS "File Browser", many of my Photoshop session
consist of only opening the "Bridge" and editing in
PS later!
I have "yellow highlite" the "Bridge" chapter
in the Adobe CS2 Manual and posted it in PDF format for you to download. |
Camera RAW from the mouth of Adobe:

More "yellow
highlighting" from the Adobe CS2 Manual... this time the"Camera
RAW" chapter. Whether using CS2, CS or PS 7.0, if your interested
in RAW files you may helpful to peruse. Also see below, in the "IAS"
section, for two links to articles by Bruce Frasier that made me a little
smarter about Camera RAW files. |
PS Action: Creating a Beveled Color Matte...
|
Not
discussed but posted for your fun & pleasure!
We discussed the possibility of doing a "group buy"
of frames and mattes. I have posted the Frames and Matte sizes along
with Studio Member's pricing (Frame Page link). Not discussed was a
quick action I use for matte and print sizing you may find helpful.
Give it a try and we'll talk about this at the next session. [Download
